The Illinois Saxophone Quintet was founded in 1972 by Western Illinois University saxophone professor Robert Sibbing and Keith M. Zimmerman, joining forces with three dedicated saxophone playing music educators, Robert Keisler, John Tavernier, and John Redshaw, the ISQ remains the only professional saxophone quintet in the world and has performed in many parts of the central U.S., France, England, Canada, and Germany. The quintet now is made up of Zimmerman and four of his former students, many of whom studied with him for 7-8 years, often including time at Bradley University. All together the five add up a total of over 140 years of saxophone playing.
